We’ve got new water tower facts!
Now rising south of the Park and Ride off West Point Douglas Road South across to Cottage Grove, a new water tower concrete base is well underway, the first concrete based water tower in Cottage Grove history.
Covered by City Administrator Jennifer Levitt at the November Economic Development Authority meeting, the water tower with concrete pedestal is on its eighth lift, the bowl set to be installed in Quarter 2 of 2026.
Cottage Grove Communications Manager Phil Jents shared some more details on the new water tower project. Among them is that the tower will be 125.76 feet to the top of the bowl when completed and 129 feet to the top of the roof rail, with a high water elevation mark of 122 feet. The tower bowl when installed will have a circumference of 230.1 feet, with a diameter measuring 73.24 feet. The concrete pedestal for the water tower bowl meanwhile has a circumference of 122.26 feet with diameter of 38.92 feet.
The project bid at $5.183 million by Landmark Structures will serve the city’s industrial park, with funding for the tower coming from a combination of the City’s Water Utility and Water Area Fund. The project final completion date for the new water tower is June 30, 2026.
