The City of Newport put out a statement to social media following reports of shots fired at Red Rock Tuesday, July 28:
Sheriff Action at Red Rock Apartments Tuesday Evening
Tuesday evening, the Washington County Sheriff’s office responded to reports of shots fired at Red Rock Apartments on Maxwell Avenue. Deputies searched the area but did not locate a weapon, shell casings, or other evidence of a shooting. They also cleared every apartment in the building and found no injuries or evidence of a traumatic event.
“Although the investigation did not identify evidence of a shooting, we encourage residents to call 9-1-1 anytime they believe there may be an emergency or are concerned about public safety,” said Mayor Elliott.
