Norgaard’s rare double paces Park girls swimming

Amber Norgaard won both the 50 and 500 freestyles in a rare double as the Park’s swimmers and divers finished second in the five-team Polar Bear Invitational Saturday at John Glenn Middle School in North St. Paul.

Norgaard won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.57, then came back five events later to finish first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:33.57.

White Bear Lake won the meet with 588 points. Park was second with 460, Tartan third with 453, South St. Paul fourth with 165 and North fifth with 104.

Park’s 200-yard medley relay team of Alayna Faletti, Afton LeMay, Norgaard and Danika Rowan was second in a time of 2:03.08. Park was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the foursome of Rowan, Afton LeMay, Ellie Imdieke and Ella Langness finishing in 1:57.70.

Imdieke was second in the girls 200-yard freestyle in 2:19.38 and Eraya Nybakken fifth in 2:29.10. Nybakken was fifth in the 500 freestyle (6:44.20). LeMay placed second in the 200-yard IM in 2:32.07. Ella Langness was seventh in the same race in 2:39.04.

Alayna Faletti of Park was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.02) and Zoe Pfeiffer fifth (1:15.07)

Katelyn Norgaard was eighth in the 50-yard freestyle and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:09.10.

Sarah Weston won the diving with a score of 310.55.

Zoe Pfeiffer finished fourth (1:17.29) and Imdieke was fifth (1:18.67) in the 100 butterfly.

On Thursday, Park lost a close one at Irondale, sinking 95-85 in a Suburban East Conference dual meet.

Park won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:04.26 with the quartet of Norgaard, LeMay, Faletti and Rowan. The Wolfpack team of LeMay, Ella Langness, Imdieke and Rowan was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:57.63.

LeMay finished first in the 200-yard IM in 2:32.92 and won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.23. Norgaard won the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.68).

Imdieke was second in the 200 freestyle (2:20.32) and second in the 500 freestyle (6:12.64). Amber Norgaard was second in the 50 freestyle (26.35). Weston was second in diving (165.10). Faletti was third in the 100 freestyle (59.84) and second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.05). Langness was second in the breaststroke (1:23.14).

Park finished the meet with a team win in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Amber Norgaard, Imdieke, Nybakken and Faletti finishing in 4:17.10.

The Wolfpack competes at Stillwater Thursday in another dual meet.
