Wolfpack volleyball team goes 2-2 in tournament

Park went 2-2 Friday/Saturday, Park in the 15-team Aerie Challenge at Apple Valley. The Wolfpack dropped their tournament opener to Fillmore Central, losing 2-0. Park then swept Eden Prairie and Apple Valley 2-0 in its next two games. The Wolfpack fell 2-1 to Edina in its second game Saturday.

Park is now 5-2 on the season.

It was three up and three down for the Park High volleyball team to start the season, as the Wolfpack took care of visiting Rosemount Thursday in a non-conference contest, winning 3-1, including two 25-23 victories. Park won the match 25-23, 25-23, 19-25 and 25-16.

Park plays at White Bear Lake on Tuesday, Sept. 19. 

Stauffer, Firchau lead Park cross country runners

Junior Gavin Stauffer was 11th (17:00.09) and sophomore Eli Firchau 20th (17:13.77) to lead the Park boys team in the Dewey Minnaert Invitational at St. Croix Regional Park Thursday.

Park’s boys team finished eighth of 11 teams competing.

Osseo won the boys team race with a score of 48. East Ridge was second with 51, followed by; Hastings, 129; Eagan, 140; St. Thomas Academy, 142; Nova Classical Academy, 155; Burnsville, 161; Park, 178; St. Croix Preparatory Academy, 228; Woodbury, 243; and Tartan, 281.

Other Park top finishers were Jack Weir (42nd, 18:03.39), Cooper Williams (58th, 18:39.92), Jayden Rentz (60th, 18:44.54), Brandon Carver (65th, 19:06.68) and Sam Craig (68th, 19:16.68).

Park was seventh in the girls team race with 195 points. Woodbury won the girls division with 40 points.

Park’s girls all bunched tightly, finishing 42nd to 50th in the race.

Hollen Thompson led the Wolfpack girls with a 42nd place finish in 24:47.24. Kalin Randrup was 45th (25:32.86), Susan Mbu 46th (25:35.22), Hailey Kieffer 48th (26:28.35), Allie Devin 49th (26:34.52) and Aria Waletzko was 50th (26:39.64).
