Park swimmers, divers fifth in Simley meet
Amber Norgaard’s second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:06.73 paced Park Saturday in the Simley Invitational at The Grove Pool in Inver Grove Heights.
Norgaard was also seventh in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.50).
Park was sixth in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Alayna Faletti, Afton LeMay, Danika Rowan and Amber Norgaard finishing in 2:04.81. The Wolfpack team of LeMay, Rowan, Faletti and Norgaard finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:50.53. Park came in eighth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:22.70 with the foursome of Faletti, Kaylynn Sowada, Ella Langness and Eraya Nybakken.
Faletti was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 59.98. Lemay finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.84.
Sarah Weston finished fourth in one-meter diving with a score of 323. LeMay was eighth in the 200-yard IM in 2:31.19. Rowan was 10th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:13.71 and 13th in the 50-yard freestyle in 29.15. Ellie Imdieke took eighth in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:02.66.
Park was fifth out of nine teams in the competition. New Prague won with 535 points, followed by: 2, Hudson, 407; 3, Mounds Park Academy St. Croix, 361; 4, Hill-Murray, 283; 5, Park, 250; 6, Simley, 227; 7. River Falls, 202; 8. Lakes International Language Academy. 29 and 9, Humboldt, Washington and Owl, 20.
On Thursday, host Woodbury dominated the action in a dual meet, not allowing Park swimmers a single win in a 92-84 team decision.
Park was second in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Alayna Faletti, Afton LeMay, Danika Rowan and Ella Langness finishing in 2:06.40. Park’s foursome of LeMay, Zoe Pfeiffer, Rowan and Faletti finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:53.13. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Park’s team of Langness, Eraya Nybakken, Evelyn Sahli and Ellie Imdieke finished in 4:33.43.
LeMay was second (27.40) and Faletti third (27.54) in the 50-yard freestyle.
Imdieke was third in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:19.06) and in the 100-yard backstroke (1:20.15.) Rowan finished third in the 200-yard IM (2:39.21). Sarah Weston finished fourth in diving with 190.70 points. Katlynn Sowada was third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:16.35). Nybakken placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.96). Lyla Kopps was fourth in the 500yard freestyle (6:55.17). LeMay clocked a 1:17.19 time in the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Royals swam the final four races as exhibitions.
Volleyball team improved to 14-5
Park moved to 14-5 on the season and 4-2 in the Suburban East Conference with a tight sweep of visiting Cretin-Derham Hall Thursday.
The Wolfpack won 27-25, 25-23 and 25-23 over the Raiders (0-6, 3-16).
It was a good bounce-back win for Park after falling at Forest Lake Tuesday.
Homestanding Forest Lake (4-1, 9-7) swept the Park Wolfpack in three straight games at Forest Lake Tuesday, winning 25-14, 25-22 am 25-12.
Thunderbolts drop season opener
The South Washington County Thunderbolts dropped their season opener, narrowly losing 9-8 in an adapted soccer game at Chanhassen/Chaska/Shakopee/Prior Lake Sept. 28.
The Thunderbolts host North/Tartan Thursday, at Woodbury High School Fieldhouse starting at 4:30 p.m.
