Do you have something you think should be in the South Washington Watershed Management Plan ?
If you do, we’ve got news.
The South Washington Watershed District (SWWD) is looking to update its watershed management plan as required by law every 10 years, and is looking for citizen feedback on important natural resources to include.
Bordered to the east, west, and south by the coming together of the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers, the SWWD was formed at the request of area cities in 1993, and is contained entirely within Washington County.
Originally focused on flooding issues, the SWWD oversees 110 square miles of watershed that includes 12 lakes, both piped and natural streams, and some 2,400 acres of wetlands, including areas of flood control.
Those seeking more information on the watershed management plan update can direct questions to SWWD deputy administrator John Loomis, reachable via email at john.loomis@woodburymn.gov or phone at 651-714-3714.
With 15 smaller watersheds within the larger district, water flows downhill. Find out more at www.swwdmn.org.
