Stolen checks from Woodbury mailbox bring felony charge

Kyle A. Mancuso, 46, Fountain, was charged in Dakota County District Court Aug. 8 with felony offering a forged check over $250 up to $2,500.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 30, 2022, two checks were stolen from a residential mailbox in Woodbury. On the same day, the stolen checks were forged and offered at a bank in West Saint Paul. One of the checks had been altered to be payable to a different person than originally written to, in the amount of $2,500. Bank surveillance was reviewed, and the image depicted a male, later identified as Mancuso, offering the $2,500 forged check at the bank in Dakota County.

Multiple people identified Mancuso as the male suspect and law enforcement reviewed Mancuso’s DMV photograph and determined that he was the suspect in the image at the bank. Law enforcement sent a letter to Mancuso attempting to get into contact with him. Mancuso left a voicemail for law enforcement stating that there is a possibility that he cashed a check in West Saint Paul, but he could not remember. A court summons was issued.
