Evan Ziegler has been hired as the new girls' hockey coach at Park High School.
He takes over for Bay Shock, who resigned from that position this winter after leading the program for the past five seasons.
“Coach Shock has done great things for our girls' hockey program. He has been able to create a fun yet competitive environment where the girls have been able to develop skills both on and off the ice. I appreciate all that all that he has done for our program. He will be missed., said Park Activities Director Phil Kuemmel.
Ziegler has more than 30 years coaching experience. He has been a varsity head coach for 17 years, having started the Edina girls high school program. He has also served as an assistant coach in both girls' and boys' programs in the metro area. He is a middle school teacher in the Bloomington school district.
“We are very lucky to have coach Ziegler step into this role at Park,” said Kuemmel. “The experience that he brings will benefit our program. Evan realizes the importance of building relationships with the players and is also excited to continue building the program from the youth level on up. His purpose as a coach includes instilling values such as empathy, resilience, integrity, commitment, and teamwork, and teaching his players how to lead through serving others and to live with purpose each day, which will benefit Park’s student-athletes in both hockey and life.”
A “Meet and Greet” will be hosted by the Girls Hockey Booster Club at a date and time to be announced.
