Masters of the Sky 2024 weekend celebrates birds

Posted

Be captivated by all things winged from educators at St. Louis’s World Bird Sanctuary during the “Masters of the Sky” weekend. Hosted by Carpenter Nature Center’s (CNC) Minnesota campus, this indoor event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25 with program showtimes at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
According to Jessie Eckroad, Communications Coordinator for the CNC, “Visitors will see between 6-8 birds from the World Bird Sanctuary and will also have a chance to meet the ambassador birds of prey that live at Carpenter Nature Center. Back by popular demand, the star of the 2024 event will be the WBS Harpy Eagle Alejandro. The Eurasian Eagle Owl and Barn Owl from WBS are crowd favorites and will be featured as well. WBS also brings a parrot or raven that is trained to collect donations from the crowd after the shows. CNC’s Peregrine Falcon, Red-tailed Hawk, and Barred Owl will be making appearances during the shows, and our Bald Eagle will be on display in his enclosure.”
This annual event, first created in 2009, has sold out in past years. Eckroad advised that tickets for “Masters of the Sky” must be purchased in advance. Attendance is limited, and Saturday shows tend to fill up quickly. CNC is also excited to announce that there will be merchandise for sale this year. They are in the process of designing “Masters of the Sky” stickers/decals featuring the Harpy Eagle.
Please RSVP by calling 651-437-4359, or register online at carpenternaturecenter.org. Tickets are $15/seat or $10 for “Friends of CNC.” Carpenter Nature Center’s Minnesota Campus is located at 12805 St. Croix Trail S. in Hastings.
Programming and events at CNC would not be possible without the generous support of donors, according to Eckroad. Bronze, silver, and gold sponsorship opportunities are still available until Feb. 21. All sponsorships are 100% tax-deductible. For more information, contact Erika Jensen, Development Coordinator at erika@carpenternaturecenter.org or 651-437-4359.
The World Bird Sanctuary is located on 305 acres of Missouri hardwood forest, next to Lone Elk County Park and the Chubb Trail. They feature free seasonal shows, nature trails, educational programs and picnic pavilions. Their outdoor avian exhibits provide housing for a variety of World Bird Sanctuary’s non-releasable birds. They also have an on-site wildlife hospital where they rehabilitate injured birds of prey. Found an injured bird? Call or text 314-337-8889.
