Park had a big win over rival East Ridge, but then tumbled on the ice to both Stillwater and Woodbury this week. Park scored a 3-1 win over visiting East Ridge at Cottage Grove Ice Arena Wednesday. The Wolfpack dropped a 7-3 decision to Stillwater on Thursday and lost 5-0 to Woodbury Saturday.

“It’s pretty simple, said Park varsity head coach Jay Moser. “we’ve been outworked now two games in a row and we’ve lost the vast majority of battles and we’re not going to win too many games with that mentality. Winning and losing, they are mentalities and you have to willing to do the hard things if you want to win and right now we’re not willing to do them.”

The Wolfpack was also playing its fourth game in seven days, but Moser declined to attribute fatigue to Saturday’s loss.

Park is now 10-7-1 on the season and 4-5-1 in the Suburban East Conference.

There obviously weren’t many offensive highlights for the Wolfpack against Woodbury. The Royals outshot the hosts 24-17, with five pucks hitting the back of the net.

“Right now honestly it’s a mentality, it’s a demeanor,” added Moser. “This is the challenging part. We’ve tried to just forget about things in the past and just move on and be positive and now it’s starting to become a pattern and we’ve got to address it head on and call it what it is and see who responds and see who doesn’t.”

Park hosts East Ridge (6-14-1, 2-9) again this Thursday at home starting at 7 p.m., then skates at winless Burnsville (0-18-1) Saturday starting at 5 p.m. Park is currently sixth in the SEC standings, East Ridge is ninth.

Stillwater 7, Park 3

League-leading Stillwater skated past Park 7-3 Thursday at Cottage Grove Ice Arena.

The Ponies jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first period and controlled the game the rest of the way. Carter Bies scored four goals to pace Stillwater.

Nathan Donlon scored twice and Samuel Janski once for the Wolfpack.

Stillwater outshot the Wolfpack 48-26.

Park 3, East Ridge 1

Park rallied from a 1-0 deficit to down visiting East Ridge 3-1 at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena Wednesday.

Samuel Janski, Jackson Rudh and Tyler Schwartz scored goals for the Wolfpack. Rudh, Vincent Lucio, Brady Strand and Sam Franck gained assists.

Alex Harden got the win in goal, stopping 16 of 17 shots. Park attempted 29 shots, making 26.
