Eight Park athletes sign letters of intent

Eight of Park High School’s best signed National Letters of Intent to participate in intercollegiate athletics next year in ceremonies Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the high school.

It was a diverse group of Wolfpack standouts with a diver, a cross country runner, a soccer player, two baseball players, a basketball star, a wrestler and a volleyball ace.

Caitlyn Greenwalt signed to dive at the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay. Caitlyn is a six-time letter winner after starting her career at Woodbury High School. She earned All-Conference honors three times, All-State two times and is a state meet qualifier. Greenwalt was a True Team section champion and has received All-American considerations. She has set numerous Woodbury and Park diving records.

Parker Hahn committed to run at the University of Sioux Falls. Parker earned All-Conference Honorable mention honors twice and All-Conference as a senior. He qualified for the state meet as a junior and has the ninth fastest 5K time in school history. Hahn was voted the team’s Most Valuable Runner four times in his career and will run both cross country and track for the Cougars.

Soccer player Mykenzie Harer committed to play at Bemidji State University. Kenzie is a three-year letter winner for the Wolfpack and received All-Conference honors her senior year. She was named to the Section All-Tournament team was voted the team MVP. Harer finished her career with 17 goals and 5 assists.

Basketball player Pharrel Payne signed to play at the University of Minnesota. Pharrel will end up being a three-year varsity letter winner and starter for the Wolfpack and received All-Conference honors as a junior. He is a four-star national recruit and is on the Mr. Basketball watch list. Payne played for the MN Select AAU program and helped lead Park to their first section championship appearance in over 20 years.

Zach Silvis committed to wrestle at North Dakota State University. Zach is a four-year varsity letter winner for the Wolfpack and received All-Conference honors three times. He qualified for the state meet three times and received All-State honors twice, finishing as high as third place his junior year. Silvis’ career record is 113 – 15. He and will enter this season ranked in the top two in the state in his weight class.

Emma Slusser signed to play volleyball at Davidson College. Emma is a four-year letter winner for the Wolfpack and received All-Conference honors. She holds Park records in both career kills and digs and is near the top in blocks and aces. Slusser has a two-year kill percentage of .292 and is one of the best rotation players in Park history.

Josh Hatano signed to play baseball at Iowa Central Community College. Josh earned All-Conference honors as a junior as the Wolfpack’s starting shortstop and leadoff hitter. He batted .372 and led the team in many offensive categories. Hatano had a .922 fielding percentage and was a key factor in the team’s successful run in sections and second place finish in the state tournament.

Baseball player Jackson Tessman also committed to Iowa Central Community College. Jackson was named All-Conference Honorable Mention as a junior. He batted .300 for the season and went 4-0 on the mound with the second most innings pitched on the team. Tessman was also a key factor in the team’s successful run in sections and second place finish in the state tournament, playing multiple positions (third base, outfield and pitcher) throughout the season.
