High jumpers set the bar for the Wolfpack again

Park’s high jumpers once again led the way Friday as the Wolfpack competed in the eight-team Knights Under the Lights meet at Irondale.

Park senior Rainna Jameson won the girls high jump at 4-10, while senior Hazim King (6-0) and sophomore O’Neal Attisso (5-10) finished 1-2 in the boys' high jump. Esme Edlund was fourth in the high jump at 4-8. Jameson finished fifth in the long jump at 14-10.5.

Park finished fifth in the boys; varsity team race and seventh in the girls' events.

Boys team scores: 1, Forest Lake 162; 2, Spring Lake Park 158.5; 3, Apple Valley 100.5; 4, Irondale 82.5; 5, Park 67; 6, DeLaSalle 64; 7, Richfield 38.5; 8, St. Anthony Village 25.

Girls team scores: 1, Forest Lake 215.5; 2, Spring Lake Park 113; 3, Irondale 85.65; 4, St. Anthony Village 75; 5, DeLaSalle 53; 6, Apple Valley 52; 7, Park 34; 8, Richfield, 32.

Boys' events

Park’s distance and middle-distance runners all had standout races Friday, led by sophomore Henry Joa’s narrow second-place finish in the 3,200 meters. Joa was second in 10:21.62 in a personal record to John Steines of DeLaSalle’s 10:19.62 race. Gavin Stauffer was 13th in the 3,200 in 11:03.75.

Junior Eli Firchau finished third in the 800 in 2:08.15. Benjamin Paulsen as fifth (2:10.32) and Miles Kaiser 13th (2:14.07).

Liam Fleming placed eighth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:04.93. Dylan Renelt was 15th (5:15.76) and Will Mann 22nd (5:26.55).

400-meter ace Dominic Jenkins switched down Friday and ran the 200 in 24.19, finishing 10th. Jayden Rentz was 15th (24.83) and Gabriel Przekurat 24th (26.12). Dylan Davis was 16th in the 400 (). Bryan Wright was 28th in the 100 (12.29). Donovan Sheak was 13th in the 110-meter hurdles (20.56).

In the relays, Park was seventh in the 4x200 in 1:39.33 and third in the 4x400 in 3:47.07 with the team of Dylan Davis, Jayden Rentz, Miles Kaiser and Eli Firchau. The 4x800 team of Firchau, Joa, Stauffer and Paulsen finished second in 8:43.94.

Charles Blumberg finished 12th in the shot put (36-00) and Lane Hayes was 13th (35-09). Avery Junior was 11th in the discus (103-0), Samuel Paulsen 14th (94-5) and Charles Blumberg 16th(89-07).

Bryan Wright took fifth in the triple jump (40-05), Eyuel Miftah was sixth (40-04) and Daniel Boesch 10th (36-08).

Girls' events

Park senior Zoey Bammert-Mueller finished fifth in both the shot put (32-04) and in the sicus (105-06). Pajyeeb Kong was seventh in the shot (29-00) and Myriah Fields ninth (27-00.5).

Esme Edlund took seventh in the 800 in a time of 2:41.04. Ali Devine was 10th in the 1,600 in 6:28.93. Jana Hafiz finished 10th in the 3,200 in 13:24.76.

Leilani Barcenas finished 13th in the 200 (29.93) and Lillie Finstad was 16th (30.14). Nevaeh Durham was 24th in the 100 (14.25). Elizabeth Ayala was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (19.33), Sharon Oni was ninth in both the 100-meter hurdles (19.73) and 300-meter hurdles (54.32).

In the relays, Park was seventh in both the 4x100 (55.29) and in the 4x2200 (1:57.40).

McKayla Annan was 14th in the triple jump (26-05).

Park’s teams are off now until Thursday, April 24th with a meet at Woodbury starting at 3:45 p.m.
