Park easily skated past host Woodbury in a Suburban East Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at M Health Fairview Sports Center, winning 7-2.
Senior forward Owen Corkish scored three goals and junior defender Malachi McMorrow had two to lead the Wolfpack. Nick Bailey and Gavin Moss had the other two Park scores.
Park led from start to finish. The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by McMorrow at the 15:30 mark, then ripped the Royals 3-1 in the second for a 4-1 advantage. That pace continued in the third period, won by Park by another 3-1 count.
Corkish had two goals in the second and added a third in the third.
Junior goalie Hank Voss got the win in goal, stopping 25 of 27 shots by the Royals.
The Wolfpack improved to 3-2 in the SEC and 8-4 on the season. Woodbury slipped to 2-4 in the conference and 5-7-1 overall.
Park now hosts four straight conference opponents at Cottage Grove Ice Arena, starting with perhaps the toughest week of the season this week. The Wolfpack host league leaders and ninth-ranked White Bear Lake (6-0, 8-2-1) on Thursday, Jan. 9, followed by seventh-ranked Cretin-Derham Hall (5-0, 10-2-1) on Saturday, Jan. 11. After that comes home games against East Ridge (2-5, 5-6) on Jan. 16 and Forest Lake (1-5, 5-7) on Jan. 18.
Roseville 5, Park 2
The host Indians took a 5-2 decision in Suburban East Conference boys hockey Thursday, Jan. 2, at Roseville.
Park’s Michael DeStasio scored to open the game, but Roseville put in the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead in the second period. Max Kaplan cut Roseville’s lead to 3-2 with a goal at the 14:30 mark of the second.
Roseville then outscored Park 2-0 in the third to claim the victory.
Hank Voss stopped 12 of 17 shots in goal for the Wolfpack.
Park outshot Roseville 37-17.
