Park boys win golf championship

The Park boys varsity finished their regular season with the conference championship at Troy Burne Golf Club Tuesday.

Following the round senior Wyatt Tuman and sophomore Riley Koch were named as all-conference golfers.

Park had been led by four seniors who played varsity this year: Tuman, Malachi McMorrow, Dylan Greifzu and Cam Duncan.

The Wolfpack compete Thursday and Friday in the section prelims at Loggers Trail Golf Club.

Cole, Conn win section tennis openers

Park senior Ethan Cole and junior Dylan Conn had some initial success in the Section 3AA boys tennis tournament held Tuesday and Wednesday at Two Rivers High School.

Park’s No. 1 singles player Cole won his first two matches before losing in the third round. Cole defeated Wyatt Yeager of Tartan 6-1, 6-0 in the opening match, then scored a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Owen Weber of St. Thomas Academy. Cole fell to Eagan’s Will Heidtke 6-1, 6-0 in his third match.

Dylan Conn also won his opening, scoring a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory over Parker Mason of Two Rivers. Conn dropped his second match to Will Gleason of Eagan, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Park’s team of seniors Tyler McKeague and Zachary Wood lost their opener, 6-1, 6-2, to Cooper Josephson/Dauren Baitursynov of Eagan. Park’s Cameron Picasso/Shane Pnewski fell in their opener to Jordan Swango/Eli Kloetstra of Woodbury by a 6-3, 6-3 score.

Park baseball season ends at Eagan

Second-seeded Eagan put an end to a long Park baseball season Monday with a 12-2 win in a Class 4A, Section 3 championship bracket first round game at Eagan.

The seventh-seeded Wolfpack end the season with a 4-17 record. A 16-11 win at then top-ranked Mounds View Bear Lake was the spring’s highlight.

Eagan goes to 13-9 overall and advances to the section second round against sixth-seeded Apple Valley.

Park will lose the services of a host of key players, with nine seniors on this spring’s roster: catcher Peter Gutzman, infielder/outfielder Dominic Nellessen, infielder/pitcher Eli Strusz, utility players Ryan Roy and Jackson Hockert, outfielders Robert Schmitzer and Leland McAllister and second baseman Fisher Engberg.

Girls golf team finishes eighth

Park finished eighth in girls golf in the Suburban East Conference finals Thursday at Oak Glen Golf Course.Top finishers for the Wolfpack were Alaina Rislove, Lia Thanchkenson, Olivia Korpi4 and Elsie Corrigan, each of whom shot a 94.

The JV finished fifth and Ellie Gieser shot a 98

Four Park players earned honorable mention all-conference: Korpi, Rislove, Gabby Stepka and Thanchkenson.

Park plays in the sections meet at Logger Trail on Wednesday, with day two play at Bunker Hills on Friday.
