Dahlstrom, Davis lead Park gymnasts in Below Zero meet

Emily Dahlstrom vaulted to a ninth-place finish in the all around with a score of 34.6 and Ashley Davis had two top 10 finishes as Park hosted a star-studded field in the Below Zero Invite Saturday.

Park finished eighth in the 13 team gymnastics competition with a score of 134.250, the Wolfpack’s second highest score of the season.

Park’s Ashley Davis finished seventh on the vault (9.250) and was 14th in the all around with a score of 33.5. Natalya Rugel finished 19th with a 33.050. Natalie Peters had a 23.950 in the all around, Ava Klecatsky a 16.150. and Annelisse Faletti a 15.750.

Dahlstrom was 10th on the vault with a score of 9.150. Rugel and Peters both scored 8.6 and Klecatsky an 8.5.

Dahlstrom also topped Park scores on the bars with a ninth-place finish and an 8.5 score. Davis scored an 8.150, Peters a 7.6, Faletti a 7.5 and Rugel a 7.4.

Rugel’s 8,650 topped Park on the balance beam. Dahlstrom scored an 8.4, Ruby Igl a 7.950, Klecatsky a 7.650 and Davis a 7.050.

On the floor, Davis finished sixth with a score of 9.050 to lead the Wolfpack. Dahlstrom scored an 8.55, Rugel an 8.4, Faletti an 8.250 and Peters a 7.750.

Second-ranked Lakeville South scored a 147.600 to win the team title Saturday. No. 7 Stillwater was second with a 141.100, No. 6 Wayzata third at 137.950 and East Ridge fourth at 136.850.

Park hosts Woodbury Thursday, Jan. 25, starting at 6 p.m.

Forest Lake 142.575, Park 132.200

Third-ranked Forest Lake showed their gymnastics skills Wednesday, but Park gained a solid score with a 132.200 team finish.

Park’s Emily Dahlstrom (34.950), Ashley Davis (34.625) and Natalya Rugel (30.750) finished third-fourth and fifth, respectively, in the all-around to pace the Park High gymnasts in a Suburban East Conference meet at Forest Lake. Natalie Peters was seventh in the all around with a score of 23.125. Ava Klecatsky was ninth with a 15.375 in two events.

Dahlstrom won the beam competition with a score of 8.700. Davis was fifth with an 8.250, Ruby Igl seventh with a 7.950 and Rugel eighth with a 7.6.

Davis led Park on the vault with a 9.1 score. Dahlstrom had an 8.950 and Rugel an 8.900.

Davis also topped the Park gymnasts with an 8.250 score on bars. Dahlstrom was fifth with an 8.150 and Annelise Faletti seventh with a 7.150.

Dahlstrom’s fourth-place finish with a 9.150 led Park on the floor. Davis scored a 9.025, Rugel a 7.9, Peters a 7.7 and Faletti a 7.125.

Park girls go 1-1 on the week

Park’s road woes continued Friday as the Wolfpack dropped to 1-8 in away games this season with an 8-42 loss at Forest Lake.

Forest Lake led 53-30 at the half.

Tori Henderson scored 16 points to lead Park on offense. Mesa Jameson had 8 points, Hailey Kieffer 7 and Olivia Czarnota 6.

Park (2-8, 3-13) hosts Mounds View (5-5, 8-7) Wednesday, Cretin-Derham Hall (4-6, 6-9) on Friday, then travels to Burnsville (5-9) on Saturday, all three games starting at 7 p.m.

Park 54, Woodbury 46

Park outscored Woodbury 31-23 after the halftime beak to score a 54-46 victory and snap a six-game losing streak Tuesday at Woodbury.

The game was tied 23-all at the half, but Park rolled in the second half to earn the win.

Mesa Jameson scored 21 points to lead a balanced Park offense. Toru Henderson scored 13, while Tenley Nelson and Hailey Kieffer had 9 each.


Park wrestlers top Woodbury, fall to Apple Valley

Park pinned Woodbury 43-30 but dropped a 45-24 decision to traditional power Apple Valley Thursday in a triangular meet at Woodbury.

Landen Brooks (2-0 decision), Kyler Jubinal (5:47 fall), Dylan Richardson (5-1 decision), Fiyin Taiwo (:51 fall) and Jesse Wright (:56 fall) all had wins for Park in the match against No. 11 Apple Valley.

Park wrestles in a quadrangular at Hastings on Friday, Jan. 26. Park and Hastings wrestle in the first round, then Park wrestles Eastview in round two.
