Park swim and dive team splits two meets
Junior Parker Jeseritz won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.79 and senior Mason Darling finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.64 to highlight Park’s efforts Thursday in a dual meet at Stillwater.
Stillwater won the meet, 94-84.
Park was second in the 200-pyard medley relay with the team of Jeseritz, Darling, Logan Schweigert and Jack Schweigert finishing in 1:45.92. The Wolfpack team of Darling, Lalee Yang, Logan Schweigert and Jack Schweigert took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:38.85. Park’s foursome of Jeseritz, Yang, Charpentier and Hayden Bonner clocked a 3:49.05 race in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Darling was second in the 200-yard IM in 2:08.93. Logan Schweigert third in 2:12.66 and Yang fourth in 2:20.69. Ethyn Schilling was second in diving with a score of 213.72. Jeseritz was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.98.
Jack Schweigert finished third in the 50 freestyle in 24.26. Morgan Byrnes was third in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.37. Jack Schweigert was second (1:04.64) and Logan Schweigert third (1:08.16) in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Damion Charpentier was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.06). Parker Stueber took fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:15.65.
Park 92, South St. Paul 51
Park easily swam and dove past host South St. Paul in a non-conference meet Tuesday, Jan. 1, winning 92-51.
Park winners included the 200-yard medley relay team of Jack and Logan Schweigert, Charpentier and Ethan Cole in 1L53.33, Parker Stueber in the 200 freestyle (2:24.20), Cole in the 200 IM (2:28.98), Schilling in diving (204.60), Paul Wallace in the butterfly (1:14.43) and Jack Schweigert in the 100 freestyle (53.59).
Park’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jeseritz, Charpentier, Will Mann and Gage Davis finished in 4:15.07.
Thunderbolts slip to 1-4 on the season
The South Washington County Thunderbolts slipped to 1-4 on the adapted athletics floor hockey season following a 13-8 loss at Mankato Thursday.
The Thunderbolts final home game of the regular season is Thursday against New Prague, starting at 4:30 p.m. at East Ridge High School.
Park girls score win at Irondale
Park got a rare road win and kept host Irondale winless on the season in a 42-31 victory in Suburban East Conference girls basketball Thursday.
The Wolfpack snapped a five-game losing streak with the win.
Park improved its record to 3-11 in the SEC and 4-17 overall. Irondale remained winless in the conference at 0-13 and are now 0-20 on the season.
Park hosts Eagan (9-9) in a non-conference contest Wednesday, then takes on East Ridge (10-4, 13-8) at home on Friday, Feb. 9.
Stillwater 71, Park 32
Park dropped a 71-32 decision at Stillwater Tuesday in Suburban East Conference girls basketball.
The second matchup was much like the first, as the Ponies won that one 61-21.
Tori Henderson scored 10 points for the Wolfpack, Tenley Nelson 9 and Mesa Jameson 7.
Park girls drop final regular season hockey match
A lack of scoring -- the same old problem which has bedeviled the Wolfpack for much of the season == cost Park a road win in the final game of the season Thursday.
Park dropped a 2-0 decision at White Bear Lake (7-8-1, 14-9-1) to finish 3-13 in the Suburban East Conference for the 2023-24 season, in ninth place in the league. Park fell to 8-16-1 overall.
White Bear Lake scored one goal in the second period and added another in the third. The Wolfpack outshot the Bears 28-22.
