Park batted ,500 in girls swimming and diving last week, sinking Simley on Tuesday, then being sank by visiting Mounds View Thursday.

A strong Mounds View team won the meet, 100-78.

The Wolfpack had their moments against the Mustangs, however. School record-holder Caitlyn Greenwalt won the diving with a score of 259.65.

Versatile Park senior Ellen Jensen took on the 500yard freestyle and won it in 5:31.61. She followed that with a win in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.52.

“We had a lot of girls that really swam well,” said Park head coach Amanda Johnson. “A couple that really stood out were Alayna Faletti, we had her in some odd events that she normally doesn’t swim in and she kind of shined in them.

“Ellen Jensen swam the 500 for the first time and did really, really well,” Johnson added. “She’s not normally a 500 swimmer per say and its quite different from meters to yards from where she’s from. She’s our foreign exchange student and said I’ll just go for it and she did and it was amazing.”

Amber Norgaard was clocked at 1:22.13 to finish first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Park quartet of Afton LeMay, Arachi O’Brien, Alayna Faletti and Norgaard finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:03.62.

“Our relays did really well tonight for the girls that we put in them,” said Johnson. “We kind of let the younger girls take the lead and see how they could do and I thought they did pretty well.”

Park’s team of Zoe Pfeiffer, Jensen, LeMay and Kylie Dahm was second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:07.71. LeMay was second in the 200-yard IM in 2:30.48. Alayna Faletti placed second in the 100yard backstroke in 1:11.44.

Park-Simley

Park’s Jensen won the 50yard freestyle (25.76) and finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.54) to pace the Park swimmers and divers past Simley 96-87 in a dual meet Tuesday, Sept. 28.

Park capped the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay with the team of Norgaard, Faletti, O’Brien and Jensen who finished first in 3:58.45.

Park’s foursome of Norgaard, LeMay, Faletti and Jensen finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.41.

Norgaard finished first in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.18.

Greenwalt easily won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 250.15.

Park’s team of Zoe Pfeiffer, LeMay, O’Brien and Lilianna Morris was second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:13.32.

Faletti was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.78. LeMay was second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:11.66 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.70. Ellie Imdieke was second in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:10.65. O’Brien was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.29.

Park hosts East Ridge Thursday at Cottage Grove Middle School, starting at 6 p.m.
